Moeckel Carbonell Associates Inc. to design new community arts center.

Moeckel Carbonell Associates Inc. has been hired by the Everett Theatre in Middletown, Delaware to design a new, non-profit, community arts center to be called The Gilbert W. Perry Jr. Center for the Arts.

The building, which is adjacent to the Everett Theatre, was originally a Hudson dealership in the 1920s. It is now vacant. This adaptive re-use project will establish an ìarts-coreî along Middletownís West Main Street along with its neighboring Everett Theatre .The design intends to make the most of an early 1900ís structure by re-establishing itís original facade while opening up the interior space to abundant light through skylights and an exposed heavy timber roof structure.

The center will offer classes in painting, pottery, stained glass, photography, and other arts for adults and children. It will also serve as a resource for local artists. A portion of the center will be dedicated to gallery space, where artists can show their work.
