| Moeckel Carbonell Associates Inc. was selected to design a new facility to house the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (DCCA). The DCCA's new home, located in the historic Harlan and Hollingsworth Car Shop II, is in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware's Riverfront revitalization. | |
| The project required extensive renovation of the existing 25,000 s.f. structure and 10,000 s.f. of new space. Plans include the design of two large exhibition galleries and three smaller galleries, a 100-seat lecture and performance space, as many as thirty artists' studios, an artists' commons and an exhibition gallery for on-site analysis. Additional features include a multi-purpose classroom, conference and catering facilities, a cafe and a gift shop. | |
| The DCCA's new location opened its doors on Friday, September 22, 2000. The facility was designed to retain its "warehouse feel". The exterior is metal clad and the interior utilizes steel I-beams, an exposed steel trussed roof and galvanized sheet metal. | |
