Surgicenter
A freestanding 25,000 s.f. outpatient surgical unit which is located on the Christiana
Hospital Campus of the Medical Center of Delaware, the Ambulatory Surgery Center houses
five (5) fully-equipped operating rooms with expansion capabilities for a total of seven
OR’s. |

| This facility is
designed to accommodate all functions necessary for same-day surgery, post anesthesia
recovery and discharge in a bright, noninstitutional setting. Programmatic elements
include reception, waiting, surgery prep, surgery unit, PACU, step-down recovery, minor
procedure suite and testing/diagnostics. |

| In response to the
resounding success of the Surgicenter and its popularity with area surgeons, the Medical
Center of Delaware retained Moeckel Carbonell to complete the planned expansion of the
Surgicenter with two additional operating rooms, 1,600 s.f. of additional storage
facilities and 6,000 s.f. of miscellaneous alterations. This project was planned in three
phases of construction which occured while maintaining day-in-day full operation. |
